Client: L’Oreal, Matrix

My role: Creative Director

Don’t adjust your TV set—or in this case, your social feeds. For L’Oreal Matrix, we transported viewers back to the glory days of ’90s and early-2000s infomercials, complete with cheesy jingles, The Rachel haircuts, and 1-800 numbers. We then invaded the social media feeds of content creators and digital stars for a unique & unexpected activation. The result was a nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek campaign that connected with people across feeds.

Hero

Transporting viewers back in time to a simpler era, where informercials and TV jingles roamed free. Here’s the full hero combing our three comedic vignettes. We had one actor playing all the roles.

In-Feed Placement

We placed the video inside influencers’ feeds —viewers thought they were watching a normal post by their favorite digital star but then the video glitches out and transports the viewer back to the late 90s/Early 2000s.

:30 “Stop Scrolling Folks”

Paying homage to the high energy informercials of yesteryear—Shamwow and Oxiclean, among others.

:30 “Rise and Shine”

I got to Rogers and Hammerstein a fake jingle with a composer for this one, paying homage to those classics of the late 90s, in particular Folger’s,

:30 “Call Now”

We all know those informercials that came on late at night that would try to get you to call now. We drew inspiration from actual beauty commercials from early 2000s.
